Truus Betting, née Nijland, was born in Varsseveld (1951), but has lived in Dinxperlo since 1974. She started her hobby with drawing in pencil and chalk and later added painting.

She attended some courses at Sleh Badaoui’s in Germany. In recent years she has mainly made portraits in oil paint and abstract work in acrylic. Sometimes she combines abstract with realism and oil paint with acrylic. Or she incorporates objects into her work.

She taught herself how to cast paint (acrylic) during corona times via You Tube. Due to the restrictions imposed by the corona period, she had the opportunity to train this technique. Playing with shapes and colors gives a lot of satisfaction and inspiration to her. Meanwhile she also uses this technique to make jewelry. That’s a new challenge.

Nothing becomes the same, making every object unique.

The theme of her exhibition in October 2024 is. “Around the World” and she will be present herself. It is the third time that she will be exhibiting in Kerkje de Rietstap. Her motivation is to touch people and hem happy with her work. That gives her the most satisfaction.
