Self-taught artist Marble flour, the unpredictable rock flour

The characteristic of marble flour is its ability to shape the paintings. Applied it develops cracks, splits, contrasting solidity, and a rough, sometimes smooth surface when it is drying.

At the beginning of the process of creating a painting, the material is in constant flux. A challenge that I accept and experience as a creative process. For eleven years, I have been working with this material, which continually surprises me.

I create  the colors myself from pigments, add other natural materials such as sand and various earths, and enjoy the creation of a painting.

For me, the high degree of flexibility required is comparable to shaping my own life. I accept challenges and develop ideas for how to overcome them.

I experienced my first creative inspirations at the age of 21 on the island of Langeoog. During the year I spent there, I began experimenting with colors and natural materials. I returned to painting again and again over the following decades until, eleven years ago, I had my first contact to marble dust at a workshop. Up to today I’m still fascinated by this material  …

I took advantage of opportunities to exhibit my works both in the city of Essen / Ruhr area as well as in Bocholt.
