GRAPHICS – PHOTOGRAPHY – DIGITAL ART – UPCYCLING – TRASH ART

This is the description of the works, Bocholt artist and graphic artist Hans Michael Spogahn.

Hiding behind this are unusual ideas, experimental collages and installations made of materials that are just as unusual, unconventional and sometimes even astonishing, and only when they are put together and combined with other equally unusual objects they do merge into harmonious or even bizarre works of art that invite the viewer to go on a journey of discovery.

Some of these works evoke associations, recall memories or raise awareness of the fact that things and materials that are worthless rubbish to other people can also have a different, meaningful and creative purpose. This is also meant in a figurative sense and is intended to encourage the viewer to be more careful and mindful of the fragile construct of our environment.

Unusual are also the exhibited photos, often revealing the subject or content of the picture only at second glance. Here, too, the viewer is encouraged to let his imagination run wild or to allow himself an own interpretation of what he sees.

The diverse selection of partly completely different works in the exhibition by Hans Michael Spogahn have a common basis: the square.

As a perfect geometric shape, the square forms the basis of most of his works, influenced by the art movements Bauhaus and de Stijl. In many of his works, craftsmanship and art as well as graphics and geometry come together creating unique, extraordinary objects.
