Astrid Rötz was born in 1970 in Recklinghausen (North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany). After studying to be a primary school teacher in Münster, she spent a year gaining valuable experience in Japan. After her traineeship in Kalkar, she returned to her birthplace Recklinghausen.

The joy of colors and shapes, materials and nature accompanied her from an early age, but the need to express herself creatively found less space during her professional years. Early on, she recognized a great interest in looking deeper and exploring her own and other people’s behavior. This is how she came to art and creative therapeutic coaching, in which she trained for a year in Dortmund in 2016/2017 and in Emmerich in 2019/2020. While teaching in primary school, there were always opportunities to work creatively with children in the afternoon, free from rules and grades. This pleased her very much.

After 25 years being a teacher, there was a turning point in her life which created more space for art as an expression of the soul and as a moment of mindfulness and internal peace.

Astrid Rötz likes to paint intuitively with watercolors or acrylics. In her hobby, she is passionately guided by her feelings. She is enthusiastic about working with colors, shapes and materials without any rules or intentions. She is not interested in a specific artistic standard, but rather in joy, experimentation and mindfulness in the creative process.

Actually, she designs her pictures and postcards with attention to detail. The multiple choice of colors is an important element of the expression of her playful pictures. The motifs arising out of experiences in life, are based on the seasons, festivals, celebrations and the theme of self-love. They are mostly cheerful, have a humorous or slightly critical background. Pictures, words and sentences are encouraging you to see yourself and your fellow human beings gently and with loving eyes. They give you space to question your own (perfection) attitude and (language) use.

In addition to painting, Astrid Rötz has various interests. She loves going out into nature or her garden in order to collect and process the fruits of nature.

Astrid places particular emphasis on further training in personal development and understanding human interaction.
