His love for nature and landscape is strongly reflected in Theo’s works. Nature photography, in which landscapes, interspersed with detailed sights, usually form the subject.

The photos shown are mainly taken in the Achterhoek, with the focus on the Vragenderveen and the rural area between Aalten and IJzerlo. Theo Bauhuis’ work is characterized above all by the natural atmosphere and tranquility in the photos. Wonderful atmospheric morning light and mist play a major role in his works. The photos are in both color and black and white, with black and white mainly used to emphasize structure and form. Theo likes the calm in the image, which means that some of the work can almost be described as minimalist.

Besides nature, as a photographer he also occasionally visits his second great love: live music.

Although Theo is self-taught, he has attended several courses at Foto21 in Bredevoort in the past. He has spent a large part of his life in nature. The fact that photography became his hobby arose from the need to capture beautiful moments in nature in order to inspire people to go out into nature.

Beyond photography, Theo also works as a tour guide in the Vragenderveen and is active in local politics.
